The association "Industry 4.0 Austria - the platform for intelligent production" was founded in 2015. In a broad alliance, important social, political, economic and scientific players are actively involved in shaping the future world of production and work. The aim is to contribute to increasing future prosperity for all people in Austria. The goal is to make the best possible use of new technological developments and innovations in digitization for companies and employees and to shape the change in a socially acceptable way for society.
The association is active in ensuring the dynamic development of the Austrian production sector, promoting research, innovation, and qualification, and contributing to a high-quality working environment and a high level of employment.
One of the association's tasks is to network business, politics, science and the media in order to successfully implement Industry 4.0. We work closely together to support the changes in production, services and the world of work. We define key areas of action and focus and develop proposals for targeted measures. We develop strategies for priority research fields with a high leverage effect for Industrie 4.0. We set initiatives to achieve synergies between national, regional and international activities. We continuously inform companies, research institutions, politicians and the media about new developments on the topic of Industrie 4.0. We exchange experiences, ideas, data, studies and analyses.
Our work is divided into expert groups:
• Research, development & innovation: The working group identifies fields of action and measures for R&D and innovation to increase technology competence for Industry 4.0.
• People in the digital factory: The opportunities and challenges presented by Industry 4.0 affect companies and employees alike.
• New business models: Business models are changing rapidly as a result of the new opportunities offered by digitization.
• Norms & standards: Norms and standards play a central role in networking the real world with the virtual world.
• Qualifications & competencies: Above all, Industry 4.0 also means a change in qualification and competence requirements.
• Regional Strategies: This working group provides a forum in which the states and the ministry regularly exchange ideas in an open atmosphere.
• Security & Safety: Secure systems not only protect the company's internal IT and OT, but are increasingly becoming a key success factor for successful business models, products and services.
• AI in production (flagship initiative): Artificial intelligence (AI) is a cross-cutting issue that shapes the work of all expert groups and the platform's projects.
• Resource and energy efficiency: This expert group focuses on the interface between Industry 4.0 and sustainability.
